What to expect from a visit

Veterinary permission must be obtained before any animal is treated.
The inital visit will take approx 1hr, susequent visits will take approx 45mins.

1. Case History

Full details of the animal are recorded. This information is used to assess any possible contraindications to treatment.

2. Conformation Evaluation

Conformation, blemishes, muscle tone and muscular asymmetry is assessed.

3. Gait Analysis

You will be asked to walk, trot and turn the animal in hand. Tiggy will be assessing the animal for freedom and equality of movement and flexibility. Lame animals will only be treated under direction of their vet.

4. Palpation

By hand, the animal will be assesed for areas of tension, spasm and discomfort.

5.Treatment

Problem areas, identified during palpation, will be treated using McTimoney techniques.

6. Massage and Stretching

Massage and stretching techniques are used following the McTimoney manipulations. This helps to relax the horse, releve tension and aids healing.

7. After Care

After treatment, the healing process continues for a few days. Tiggy provides aftercare by advising the owner or trainer about an appropriate stretching regime and/or exercise programme. This means the owner can continue the rehabilitation process.

8. Future Visits

Some animals may require several treatments, depending on the nature of the problem. However, it is recommended that all animals receive regular check-ups to maintain optimum performance and health and as a preventative measure.
